How do you outline a custom stencil quickly without using aerosol paint?
When using aerosol paint to outline a custom field stencil one of the adverse impacts is that the aerosol paint will have a tendency to cause the sheet plastic to curl around the edges. Mike Hebrard,
Athletic Field Design, has been using the
Graco ProShot airless battery operated hand sprayer to outline the field stencils he uses at customer sites. He uses the same field marking paint that will be used as part of painting the overall stencil. Other than the initial expense of the hand sprayer he can eliminate the need to use aerosol paint on the job site.
I found the a good overview of the product at the following
blog post on the Graco ProShot. Here are a couple YouTube videos of the unit in operation on a indoor paint job,
setup and
door painting. Here's another
forum post with comments from different users. It appears that you should buy the unit that allows for installing the rebuild kit.
This tool could be very handy when painting soccer, lacrosse, rugby, field hockey and football goals, especially applying the primer and then following up with the appropriate color. This has to be much quicker then using a paint roller or brush. I could even see using this tool to brighten up brown out areas on turf by applying a turf colorant. Another use of this tool is apply liquid chalk lines where a long traditional chalk box might be used.
One feature that will be extremely beneficial is the Tilt-N-Spray 32 oz [.95 L] Paint Cup with Adjustable Suction Tube. This will allow you to dispense the paint at a steep angle when spraying turf, especially for the field stencils.
Although this is not a pressure washer I could see using this tool with Simple Green cleaning solution for removing latex paint on field striping equipment or applying a light layer of oil to hand tools to minimize rust buildup. I have some liquid deicer that I may try applying with this unit so check back once I complete the test over the winter.
